Project Description
Action on Poverty(AOP) is an independent, secular, not-for-profit Australian non-government organisation that was founded in 1968.
Action on Poverty is a membership-based aid organisation that acts on Poverty in Asia, Africa and the Pacific, primarily through a partnerships-based approach where they engage with in-country NGOs that have proven experience, skills and local understanding.
AOP take a rights-based approach to poverty reduction, believing that all people should be able to live with dignity and have their basic needs met. This approach means they work towards addressing the underlying causes of poverty: not only the direct effects of it.
AOP specialises in connecting underprivileged communities with philanthropists, business, civil society, and researchers to meet their development goals. Together with their partners AOP have developed innovative technologies to reduce dengue, helped children access free and effective treatment for clubfoot, and implemented award-winning models for social enterprise.
Simply put – Action on Poverty help people to help themselves.
